Formula 1 has officially announced a new three-year deal for the Mexican Grand Prix, which will therefore remain on the Formula 1 calendar for at least the following three seasons.
The current deal between Formula 1, the Government of Mexico City and event promotors Corporación Interamericana de Entretenimiento [CIE] was available only until the end of the current championship, as this year’s event will take place this weekend at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
However, the short-term future of the Mexico City event is now safe, as confirmed by Formula 1 earlier today with a press release and an official statement posted on its social media accounts:
“I am very pleased to announce that Formula 1 will continue to race in Mexico City for another three years under this new agreement,” said former Scuderia Ferrari boss and current Formula 1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali about this new deal between Formula 1 and the Mexican Grand Prix promotors – “Every year the race attracts a large number of passionate fans, and the atmosphere is incredible, and I know everyone will be excited by this news. I want to thank Claudia Sheinbaum, the Head of Government for Mexico City, and Alejandro Soberón and his team for their ongoing commitment to Formula 1 and the continued success of the event.” – he added.

The event was previously officially known as the Mexican Grand Prix, as now called the Mexico City Grand Prix, given the fact that the federal government pulled its financial support for the event.
