In recent days, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has repeatedly been linked to Ferrari as a possible replacement for Fred Vasseur. Here are Horner’s first words on the matter.
From Canada come the first statements by Christian Horner regarding a potential move to Ferrari to succeed Fred Vasseur. Yesterday, some Italian outlets speculated about a future without the current team principal at Maranello. Among the most frequently mentioned names as his replacement — even in the previous days — was the Red Bull team boss. However, Ferrari quickly intervened to deny these rumours.
Christian Horner clarified the situation
Christian Horner, speaking at the end of FP1 — which saw Max Verstappen top the timesheets ahead of the two Williams — addressed the speculation for the first time. Interviewed by Sky Sports F1, he said: “You know this business. There are so many rumours. I’m not going anywhere. I’m fully committed to Red Bull. We have so many great things in the pipeline. We’re on the verge of launching our 2026 power unit, which has been a huge project and undertaking.” – the British manager pointed out.
According to Christian Horner, being linked with a team like Ferrari is an honour, but for now his focus remains entirely on the Red Bull project: “It’s always flattering to be associated with other teams, especially teams like Ferrari.” In addition to Ferrari, recent speculation also mentioned a possible switch to Alpine, but the Red Bull team principal was equally firm: “But I’m not going anywhere, not even to Alpine as has been reported. Speculation is common in this paddock. I’ve been here for 21 years and have no intention of being anywhere else.”
