Everyone seems to love Pokémon — including Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari F1 driver has sparked talk of a new “Pokémon craze” after a video surfaced of him making an unexpected purchase.
The footage shows Ferrari’s number 16 buying vintage Pokémon card packs in a store popular with major collectors. Charles Leclerc appears in the video alongside his girlfriend Alexandra Saint Mleux and his photographer Antoine Truchet. The three are seen smiling with the shop assistant as they select and purchase cards. (CLICK HERE FOR THE VIDEO).
The video was later removed from major social media platforms for alleged privacy violations — but not before it had already gone viral.
Charles Leclerc’s new (or old) passion: Pokémon
The clip was filmed in a Miami shop called Collectors Club X, which also shared footage of Charles Leclerc’s visit on its social media. Many fan pages reposted the video. Fans are now wondering whether the Monegasque driver has always been a Pokémon fan since childhood.
Meanwhile, drivers are wrapping up a short break before returning to the track for a triple-header that kicks off with Ferrari’s home race in Imola. After Miami, F1 took a one-week break and now resumes in the Emilia-Romagna city.
For Charles Leclerc, it marks a return in Ferrari red, while for teammate Lewis Hamilton it will be his first real home race donning Maranello colors. And it’s not just Ferrari fans celebrating: Italy also marks the home debut of Andrea Kimi Antonelli, the Italian Mercedes driver. In short, the upcoming weekend will be a major one for all Italian fans.
