Charles Leclerc appears to have reached his limit with Ferrari. Once again, another outburst came over team radio during the Canadian Grand Prix.
If the rumours at the start of the weekend suggested that Charles Leclerc was drifting away from Maranello and Ferrari, the situation didn’t seem to improve after the race. The relationship between the pit wall and the Monegasque driver seems to be increasingly strained, with a rift that grows deeper with each race weekend. Even during the Canadian GP, despite feedback from car #16, the team went ahead with a decision without aligning with its lead driver.
Charles Leclerc’s ignored strategy
Around lap 30, after being overtaken by George Russell, Charles Leclerc was worried about significant tyre degradation due to dirty air, but after setting a series of competitive lap times, he told his race engineer, Bryan Bozzi, that there was no longer any need for concern.
Despite this information, on lap 31 the call came to box for a tyre change—swapping hard tyres that still seemed to be in good shape. While the decision may have made sense on paper, Charles Leclerc’s fury erupted when the team fitted another set of hard tyres. His anger came through clearly over the team radio.
He vented, saying: “Guys, why did we come into the pits?” Bozzi replied promptly: “We are on plan B.” Charles’ frustration became clear when he responded: “I told you the tyres were good!”
This marks yet another episode in which Leclerc clashes with the team’s decisions, accusing them of never listening, and unleashing his frustration over the radio. Could this be one more incident that makes his continued stay at Ferrari in 2026 even more uncertain?
