Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc confirmed that he was “very impressed” by how new Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur started his activity in Maranello, after the French manager left Alfa Romeo at the end of the 2022 Formula 1 campaign and moved to Ferrari.
Frederic Vasseur took over his new role as Ferrari team boss last month, following the resignation of Mattia Binotto, who decided to leave the Maranello team after a long-time career as engine engineer and four years at the top of the Ferrari Racing Division, which ended due to the disappointing overall 2022 Formula 1 season.
As Fred Vasseur joined Scuderia Ferrari, he now has the opportunity of once again working with Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque driver made his Formula 1 debut for Alfa Romeo five years ago, when the Frechman was leading the Swiss team, while Charles also raced for Vasseur’s ART Grand Prix junior team in GP3 two years before his Formula 1 debut, even securing a GP3 championship title despite being a rookie.
“I was very impressed by how well he introduced himself in the team,” Charles Leclerc replied, when asked about his new team principal – “Ferrari is very different to whatever we are used to before. Ferrari is huge. And once he got here, he understood extremely well the way Ferrari works from the first few days. He’s very clear in what he wants and he’s extremely good at putting the people in the right mindset and in the right ambiance to give their best. And this is very important. So, that’s what he brings to Ferrari and I’m sure it will be a good thing.” – he added.
Charles Leclerc was interviewed by the Italian and international media following the highly appreciated SF-23 car launch last week at the Fiorano circuit, where the Monegasque also got the chance to take to the track behind the wheel of Ferrari’s new challenger for the first time, before handing over to his Maranello teammate Carlos Sainz.

After completing his two laps of the Fiorano track using the Pirelli demo tyres in front of a grandstand full of Tifosi, the 25-year-old is now ready for the first major moment of the new Formula 1 campaign, the official pre-season testing session, which takes place this week at the Bahrain International Circuit. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be back behind the wheel of the Ferrari SF-23 for three days of testing ahead of the first round of the season, the Bahrain Grand Prix, which is scheduled to take place in March 5.
