Hear from Scuderia Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel, and get insight from Team Principal Mattia Binotto as we get ready for Round 1 of the 2019 Formula One season, which will take place this weekend in Melbourne, at the Albert Park circuit:
Sebastian Vettel: “I think Melbourne is the perfect place to start the championship. I have great memories of this circuit, of course the best ones are from the last two years, because we won both times. But I also have memories of my first ever podium with Ferrari, which was here back in 2015 when I made my debut with the Scuderia.”
Charles Leclerc: “Of course it will be a very special race for me. It will be my debut with Ferrari and that alone makes the Australian Grand Prix unique. I already have good memories of Melbourne because it was the Albert Park where I made my Formula 1 debut last year. I’m happy with the way the testing went and can’t wait to be on the track now. Because this is the race weekend on which we want to collect a good result as the reward for all the hard work in the winter.”
Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto also mentions the Australian GP in particular and how special it is: “This year even more, because we are celebrating the 90th birthday of Scuderia Ferrari in 2019. We are pleased to have a pairing of outstanding drivers like Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc. After the winter tests the whole team now wants to go out on track and compete with our opponents, who we know are very, very strong. Now we come to the first of a long series of stages. Our task is to make life difficult for our rivals, who proved to be stronger last year. This season will be very demanding. It’s important that we start strong, but we have to be aware that we still have other 21 equally important races ahead of us!”
