Ferrari driver reflects on British GP victory ahead of Spa
Formula 1 returns to action this weekend at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, the opening round of the final back-to-back before the summer break.
Ferrari heads into the Belgian Grand Prix with renewed confidence after Charles Leclerc claimed a surprise victory at Silverstone, bringing an end to a long and difficult spell with an outstanding performance. Speaking ahead of the race weekend in the Ardennes, the Monegasque driver shared his expectations for what could be another important test for the Scuderia.
Charles Leclerc focused on rebuilding confidence with the SF-26
“I think my main objective will be to find that right feeling with the car again,” Charles Leclerc said. “If I can achieve that, I’m confident I’ll be able to extract the maximum potential from the car. If not, things could become more complicated.
“As for the overall result, of course, as a team we’re pushing as hard as possible to fight and challenge Mercedes. We expected a very difficult weekend at Silverstone. In fact, before that race, we believed things would be even worse at Spa.”
Charles Leclerc admitted Ferrari may now be closer to the front than the team had initially anticipated, although he stressed that the Belgian Grand Prix would provide a much clearer picture of the Scuderia’s true competitiveness.
“Maybe we’re a little closer than we originally thought,” he added. “However, that’s still something we need to verify. Personally, I won’t focus only on winning because that would be the wrong approach. Instead, I’ll concentrate on the process needed to find the ideal feeling with the car and maximize its performance.”
