In a Ferrari that ends the year surrounded by question marks, only one true certainty remains: Charles Leclerc. According to Maurizio Arrivabene, the former Ferrari team principal, the world title is only a matter of time for the Monegasque driver.
While in Abu Dhabi Lando Norris takes the spotlight by securing his first Formula 1 world championship, Ferrari closes yet another season filled with high expectations but very few concrete results. The one consistently positive element for the Italian team is Charles Leclerc who, in Maurizio Arrivabene’s view, will eventually find his moment in Formula 1.
Charles Leclerc ends the 2025 season without a single victory, but he is the one who secured all of Ferrari’s podium finishes this year—seven in total. It is a conclusion that inevitably leaves a bitter taste, especially for a driver who continues to prove, season after season, that he has extraordinary natural talent yet has never been given a car capable of fighting at the very top. The disappointment for how the 2025 campaign unfolded was clear in Charles Leclerc’s post-race comments.
Speaking openly about Charles Leclerc’s value and future, Maurizio Arrivabene—who knows him well from his early years in red—made his thoughts crystal clear. The former Ferrari boss stated: “For me, Leclerc can become world champion, or at least fight for the title all the way to the final Grand Prix. I am absolutely sure of it,” declared Maurizio Arrivabene.
He then added: “We need champions like him, people with professionalism, courage, kindness and absolute determination. I remember the year when his father passed away: we were about to leave with the Ferrari charter, I saw him arrive and asked: ‘What are you doing here?’. He replied: ‘I have to go, I have to do my job and I have to win for my dad’. And he won for his dad. This guy cannot lose.”
The real question mark, yet again, is the competitiveness of the car—an issue that casts uncertainty over Charles Leclerc’s long-term future with the Scuderia. Maurizio Arrivabene commented: “Will he stay at Ferrari? I hope so, because that would mean he finally has a car that matches his value,” stressed the former team principal, underlining how Maranello has the obligation to provide him with a machine capable of genuinely fighting for wins and for the championship.
After another season of what-ifs in 2025, the entire F1 paddock knows one truth: when Ferrari eventually get it right, Charles Leclerc will be ready to bring the world title back to Maranello.
