Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc says he is ready to extend his current contract with the Maranello team for an even longer period.
The Italian side stunned the Formula 1 paddock back in 2019 by announcing that its new Monaco-born driver, then just 21, would be staying for the next five full seasons, a type of contract that was never offered by Scuderia Ferrari to any other driver in history, including the great Michael Schumacher.
“I have a contract until the end of 2024” – the now 23-year-old Charles Leclerc confirmed, as reported by Italian daily general-interest newspaper ‘La Repubblica’ earlier this week – “but I would like to renew it already. I want to stay here even longer. I believe in Ferrari and the people who work for it.” – the Monegasque driver concluded.
Charles Leclerc’s enthusiasm will be great news for Scuderia Ferrari and all us fans, but now it will be up to the Maranello team to work hard and be able to provide Charles with a car capable of challenging for victories as early as the next Formula 1 season.
