That race at Silverstone, with the delaminations on the front left, remains in his memory. Not only because of the absolutely insane finish, but because it is his last podium in Formula 1. Charles Leclerc, since the 2020 British Grand Prix, is no longer in the top three. A situations that has lasted since 2 August: almost one year, characterized by six fourth places and some magic on Saturday (two pole positions), but never a joy on Sunday. Charles Leclerc – like all his colleagues – has a double opportunity this weekend, with the debut of the Sprint Qualifying. Who knows, maybe the new format could help the Monegasque driver achieve an unexpected podium, even if Silverstone is certainly not the ideal track for Ferrari.
“Surely a long time has passed, but there has been an improvement since then. We are going on the right direction, I have a lot of confidence in my team and I am happy with how we are progressing. The podium this weekend is perhaps too optimistic, but you never know, if there is a chance I will take advantage of it. At Ferrari I am happy, there is a good synergy with Carlos, we are working well together and I believe in the project. We are all giving our best.” – Charles Leclerc told Sky Sport, as the Monegasque driver received the Trofeo Bandini
Charles then also spoke about the European Championships and the future in Ferrari, indirectly denying a series of rumors and speculations about his alleged move to Red Bull: “I was in Monaco, there are also some videos of me when I jump and celebrate. It was all great, emotion and sport in general are part of the Italian DNA. We are here to do the same with Ferrari. I believe 2022 can be a good opportunity. The car will change completely and there will be an opportunity for Ferrari to do well. We will see how it goes and what we will need to win. The team is certainly very important. We drive the car and we are in front of the cameras, but who is in Maranello makes the difference even more and we are all united to fight for our objectives”. – Charles concluded.
