Charles Leclerc pinpoints difference between Carlos Sainz and Sebastian Vettel as teammates
The Monegasque driver was asked whether Carlos is the best teammate and Charles said it‘s a difficult question to answer: “Seb in his good days, I mean the last year was more difficult for Seb, but in his good days he was just incredible and incredibly difficult to beat, if not impossible. Carlos is a very very good teammate. Carlos is just very consistent. It’s different approaches but both of them were very very strong.”
You have all these off track interests that you share with Carlos, what about Seb?
Charles Leclerc: “With Seb it was a little bit of a different relationship. I saw him a little bit like an older brother. Seb had more experience, so he was a bit less competitive with everything. If I wanted to win something, he would basically let me win this thing and I would be happy, and he wouldn‘t care. With Carlos it‘s a little bit different, I can see he is so pissed off if I am beating him at anything, it can be the stupidest thing and he would be so angry. Same for me.”
You mean only off track right? On track Seb was as competitive with you as the next person?
Charles Leclerc: “Definitely. Once you put the helmet on, this whole relationship stops. You just think about the performance, trying to extract the maximum out of the car.
How has your relationship with Seb changed since you stopped being teammates?
Charles Leclerc: “It is very similar as before. We always talk whenever we see each other. We still have discussions and conversations about how is it going for him at Aston, how for me at Ferrari.”
