Disappointment, anger, bewilderment, frustration. Similar sentiments, all converging in the same direction to describe the dramatic start of the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix for Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc. On a track made wet by the rain that fell in the pre-race moments, the Monegasque driver had managed to start very well from seventh on the grid, but Lance Stroll’s missed braking – coming from the rear – canceled any chance of making a good result in a Sunday strongly influenced by the weather variable.
“It was a good game of bowling on a Sunday before the holidays. I don’t know how that’s possible, honestly. It’s shit” – commented a regretful Charles Leclerc – “Stroll was 5-6 positions behind, all this makes me quite frustrated. We knew we had a chance to do well. I was very cautious at the start for that very reason. In the past, I also sometimes exaggerated in the first corners, but this time it was certainly impossible to think of gaining 5-6 positions in a corner, it is not realistic. That’s it. Now I’m just frustrated.” – he admitted.
“I am not the right person to judge and evaluate possible sanctions. The stewards will do their job, but I am sure they have seen that it is very obvious what happened.” – Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc concluded.
