Ferrari brings new updates to the SF-25 for the Austrian Grand Prix in F1: here are Charles Leclerc’s first impressions.
Charles Leclerc is candid in his comments about Ferrari’s latest Formula 1 updates. The Maranello team isn’t giving up and has introduced an important new package aimed at unlocking more performance from the SF-25. This won’t be the final development step for the car, as a new rear suspension is expected in the upcoming races, which should finally fix the car’s most critical issues.
Ferrari approaches the Austrian round of the championship with a revised floor. These updates are meant to bring more stability to the SF-25, with the team still pushing to challenge at the front before fully shifting focus to next season. However, factory work is now split: while one part of the staff continues to push to catch McLaren, another group is already fully focused on the 2026 project.
Our reporters in Spielberg gathered Charles Leclerc’s first impressions, ahead of FP1 where he will hand over his car to Dino Beganovic.
There will be improvements, but no revolution for the Ferrari SF-25
The Monegasque driver was clear: “I don’t know how much potential we’ll be able to unlock in the coming weeks. I don’t think things will change radically. What we’re trying to do is take small steps in the right direction and, of course, try to understand the path to follow for the future. I do expect progress, yes. Will it be enough to close the gap to McLaren? Probably not, because for now they’re too far ahead.” – the Ferrari driver pointed out.
He also commented on the factory work, which is already partly focused on the 2026 Formula 1 project: “I believe there’s a division of responsibilities at the moment. We’re working on both fronts. Obviously, next year will be very important. We still have some updates coming until the end of this season, which we had already planned. But next year everything will be new, and we have to be ready—we’re already working on it.”
