Ferrari is back on track at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with the Scuderia taking part in a busy two-day Pirelli testing programme scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, and Wednesday, June 17.
The morning session of the first day has already concluded, with Charles Leclerc completing an impressive 84 laps behind the wheel of the Ferrari SF-26. The Monegasque driver’s fastest lap of the session was a 1:16.619 as Ferrari continued gathering valuable data for tyre development and future performance improvements.
According to reports from AutoRacer, Ferrari is not the only team involved in the Barcelona test. Aston Martin and Cadillac are also taking part in the programme.
As for the drivers, Charles Leclerc will remain at the wheel of the SF-26 for both days of testing. Aston Martin and Cadillac, meanwhile, are not fielding their regular race drivers, instead relying on reserve drivers Jak Crawford and Guanyu Zhou respectively.
Ferrari’s work at Barcelona will continue beyond the Pirelli test. On Thursday, the Maranello-based team will return to the circuit once again, this time with the SF-25 as part of a TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) programme.
Behind the wheel will be Rafael Camara, fresh from his victory at the Barcelona Grand Prix and one of the standout talents in the Ferrari Driver Academy. The Brazilian youngster will have another valuable opportunity to gain experience with Formula 1 machinery as he continues his development within the Scuderia’s junior programme.
It promises to be an extremely busy and important week for Ferrari, with the team working hard both on tyre development and on-track preparation as it seeks to maximise the performance of its cars for the remainder of the season.
