Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc looks back on the outcome of the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix, a race in which Charles alongside the Maranello team, decided to risk going for a surprising win by attempting to end the race without a pitstop. It did not prove the right decision, but as the Monegasque driver confirmed, it was a gamble which was worth taken:
“The disappointment for the missed podium [Istanbul] is there. In such a difficult season, with many missed opportunities and a bit of bad luck, it would have done me good to get on the podium… Fighting for the win was a risk, I also knew that I would risk losing third place, but when I have a chance to win I always try to take advantage of it. At that point I was just thinking about winning, it didn’t happen, but we had a lot of adrenaline.” – Charles explained.

The Ferrari driver was also asked about the Maranello team’s prospects for the last part of the current Formula One season, especially in view of 2022, when everybody is confident Ferrari will be able to challenge Mercedes and Red Bull for race wins:
“After 2020, which was a difficult year, we started working in the right direction. There are no miracles in Formula 1, everyone works to improve, but I have the impression that Ferrari is growing more than the other teams! I am someone who tries to analyse the situation well, usually I set realistic goals, but the truth is that I always think about winning. It seems unrealistic, but if there are six races left between now and the end of the season, I will aim for six wins! I don’t think it is realistically possible, but if there is an opportunity I will try, just like I did in Turkey. In these six races we will certainly work to grow, to start the new era of Formula 1 in 2022 in the best possible way!” – Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc concluded.
