Charles Leclerc wanted to pay tribute to Ferrari with a special helmet for the last race of the 2023 Formula 1 season, which is scheduled to take place this weekend at the 5.281-kilometre Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Like last year, the Monegasque driver in his fifth season with the Scuderia wanted to express his gratitude to his team members with a simple yet meaningful helmet.
It is a white helmet with a large “Grazie Ferrari” (Thank you, Ferrari) inscription in red. On the top, the names of Charles Leclerc’s team members are featured, as has been the tradition every year since he joined Ferrari (except in 2020 when he dedicated it to Sebastian Vettel). A simple but emotionally significant way to thank all the men and women at Ferrari who have supported him during the 2023 season.
Additionally, Charles Leclerc did not miss the opportunity to mention his contract renewal. Interviewed by SkySports, he was asked when the renewal would be announced. Laughing, the Monegasque replied, “I don’t know… right now, I’m focused on the last race of the season!”
Indeed, Ferrari still has a task at hand: beating Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship and securing the second position. “It will be a tight battle with Mercedes until the end, and we’ll have to do everything right to beat them and get the second place in the Constructors’ Standings. I don’t know if we have the fastest car here, but it depends a lot on the details. Traditionally, they are strong here, and it will depend on who optimizes their package better. In Las Vegas, the pace was good, but there is still a lot of work to do, and we need to stay focused to stay ahead of Mercedes.”

Despite the high expectations when the SF-23 was unveiled in February, the Ferrari duo has not seen those expectations materialize. The Maranello team will have to work hard to catch up with Red Bull.
