Leclerc demands perfection from Ferrari after costly double retirement in Brazil
Charles Leclerc emphasized that Ferrari must execute the remaining rounds of the 2025 Formula 1 season flawlessly if the team hopes to recover second place in the Constructors’ Championship. The Maranello outfit endured a disastrous weekend at Interlagos, leaving São Paulo with no points after a series of early-race incidents derailed both cars.
The Monegasque driver’s race came to an abrupt end following a first-corner collision triggered during a safety car restart involving Oscar Piastri and Kimi Antonelli. Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari SF-25 sustained terminal damage that forced him to retire before completing a single lap of competitive running. His frustration was visible, as Ferrari’s momentum in the championship fight took a severe hit.
Teammate Lewis Hamilton faced an equally difficult afternoon. The seven-time world champion suffered contact with Carlos Sainz at the start, damaging his front wing and floor. Despite an attempt to continue, Hamilton’s compromised Ferrari became increasingly unmanageable, forcing him to retire mid-race after losing significant downforce and pace.
Heading into the Brazilian Grand Prix, Ferrari had occupied second place in the Constructors’ standings, but the team’s double DNF proved costly. With three races remaining, Ferrari now sits fourth—36 points adrift of Mercedes and four points behind Red Bull, who capitalized on the chaos in São Paulo to move up the order.
Charles Leclerc reflected on the setback, acknowledging that Ferrari’s situation has become far more challenging. He reportedly described the outcome as deeply frustrating, particularly given the team’s ambitions of securing the runner-up spot behind Red Bull. The Monegasque driver stressed that Ferrari cannot afford any more mistakes or misfortune in the closing stretch of the season.
According to Charles Leclerc, the only way for Ferrari to recover is to deliver perfect race weekends from this point forward. The Monegasque driver urged the team to focus on precision in every area—strategy, pit stops, and reliability—highlighting that the smallest errors could now determine the final championship outcome. The Scuderia’s focus has already shifted toward Las Vegas, where Charles Leclerc believes Ferrari must produce a strong response to keep its P2 hopes alive.
With Mercedes showing consistent form and Red Bull regaining its rhythm, Ferrari’s margin for error has effectively disappeared. Charles Leclerc’s comments underline the urgency inside Maranello, where expectations remain high despite the recent setback. As the 2025 Formula 1 season nears its conclusion, Ferrari’s campaign now hinges on whether it can turn frustration into flawless execution in the final three races.
