Charles Leclerc chasing a podium in Jeddah
Four Grands Prix and zero podiums. That’s not the start to the season Charles Leclerc was expecting, but the Monegasque driver isn’t giving up and believes the progress seen in Bahrain could help in Saudi Arabia, a circuit that is more front-limited compared to Sakhir and could therefore mask the SF-25’s rear-end issues.
Car #16 also believes he has found a way to make the car work and push his limits further in both qualifying and the race. It’s a path Charles Leclerc intends to continue on in Jeddah, where the goal is to secure his first podium of the year, because “giving it my all and finishing fourth doesn’t make me smile.”
Charles Leclerc’s comments
“Like last week, tyre wear and overheating are the areas we need to work on most,” Charles Leclerc said, before adding that he believes Ferrari is “on the right path.” The Scuderia’s ambition is to return to fighting for victories as soon as possible, and as is well known, a new floor was introduced in Bahrain, which according to Charles Leclerc didn’t make much of a difference on that track. But things will be different in Jeddah: “We’ll be closer, I’m confident,” said the Monegasque.
“I like this track a lot. How do I say it without saying a bad word, you need a lot of courage in a track like this and it pays off in quali. I’m looking forward to it. As I’ve always said, when i compete I do it to win, but clearly we are aware of the difficulties. The team is working very hard and I’m not just talking about those who are present on the track. For my part, there is always great motivation.” – Charles Leclerc concluded ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend.
