The on-track performance among Formula 1 drivers can vary due to a myriad of factors. Recently, attention has been focused on the significant time gap between Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, both Red Bull drivers. Charles Leclerc, the lead driver of Scuderia Ferrari, shared his perspective on this discrepancy during an interview with Motorsport.com Italy.
A Startling Margin between the Two Red Bull Drivers
The talented Monegasque driver expressed surprise about the performance difference between the two teammates. “Watching the races, it’s hard not to notice the disparity between Max and Checo. Verstappen is certainly a formidable talent, but the difference in pace between the two has sometimes been more pronounced than I would have expected,” Charles Leclerc stated.
The Internal and External View
Despite his observations, Charles Leclerc emphasized the importance of having a comprehensive view of the situation. “It’s complex to fully judge the situation from the outside. Only those inside Red Bull have all the information to understand it. It’s always a challenge to be alongside a driver of Verstappen’s caliber,” added the Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver, ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, the first round after the summer break, scheduled to take place this weekend at the Zandvoort circuit.
