Charles Leclerc has pointed out that Ferrari’s 2025 Formula 1 car is lacking competitiveness in medium and high-speed corners, areas where the team needs to improve in order to challenge McLaren.
Heading into the 2025 Formula 1 championship, the expectation was that the Italian side would build on the momentum gained from a strong finish to the 2024 season, which saw them fight for the title in the final race. Many thought the team would once again be in the mix for the championship.

The Monegasque driver has suggested that while the team has made progress in high-speed corners compared to the SF-23, this improvement may have come at the expense of performance in other critical areas of the car, making it harder to compete at the highest level.

The Ferrari man mentioned that in qualifying at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne, McLaren was significantly stronger than Ferrari in the final sector, which he believed might have been more related to tire performance than anything else. However, when it came to the race, the situation changed completely, with Ferrari struggling with overall performance, lacking speed in both low and high-speed corners, as well as dealing with degradation. According to Charles Leclerc, the issues were widespread, affecting multiple aspects of the car. He acknowledged that Ferrari had a clear understanding of where they needed to focus their efforts to improve performance. While he felt the Maranello team had made significant progress in high-speed corners, low and medium-speed areas were still where more work was needed.
