The relationship between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz? They are friends, but of course there is also a healthy rivalry. The two Scuderia Ferrari drivers, who are at the start of their third year as Maranello teammates, have shown that they know how to work together both on and off the track.
This confirmation also came from the Monegasque, who also spoke about his relationship with Carlos Sainz in the recent Formula 1 podcast – Beyond The Grid.
“Obviously we are good teammates, friends and we have a good relationship,” said the Monegasque. “We know how to work together, but I can’t say there isn’t a competitive rivalry because we are both very competitive. I think that’s how it works: we’re competitive once we’re wearing a helmet, but we also know how to work off the track.” – he added.
The interviewer then alluded to the nice moment during the presentation of the Ferrari SF-23, when the two drivers tossed a coin to decide who would drive the car first: “It was fun,” admitted the Monegasque.
Charles Leclerc: “Carlos will also be in the fight for the world championship”
Charles Leclerc knows how fast his teammate can be, so he believes Carlos Sainz will be battling with him for the title in the 2023 Formula 1 season. Speaking of the difficulties encountered in testing in Bahrain, the Monegasque explained:

“All Formula 1 drivers know how to adapt to different cars. Maybe with balancing you have different preferences. You might like an understeer car or an oversteer car better.”
Looking back at the difficulties encountered by Carlos Sainz in adapting his driving style to the F1-75 challenger last season, the Monegasque driver pointed out that “maybe Carlos suffered with the car at the beginning of the season, but in the end he was very fast.” And he warned, “he will be there in the battle for the title this year, I’m sure.” – the Monegasque driver concluded.
