The current results of Ferrari show how four races can have such an impact, causing a team that won a race to drop to the fourth strongest on the grid.
After the victory in Monte Carlo, dark times have arrived for Ferrari with the introduction of the latest package of updates, which up to today have worsened the performance of the SF-24, rendering them harmless in the eyes of their rivals.
“In the end, the feeling was never there,” said Leclerc sadly to Sky microphones at the end of the British Grand Prix Qualifying held today at Silverstone.
After the comparisons made yesterday, Charles Leclerc decided to revert to the old package, the one that had provided more certainty in terms of performance. However, Charles lacked the necessary time to find a suitable setup due to the rain in the morning that disrupted Free Practice 3.
“Yesterday was a very difficult Friday, even though we did the comparisons we wanted. Today we made a decision regarding the package to use and we preferred to use the old one.”
“I still have to make up for the time lost yesterday with the different configuration. And when qualifying is so tight, where a tenth makes such a big difference, it becomes difficult to recover the lost time.” – he pointed out.
“However, this cannot be an excuse. The truth is we have lost the right pace for a while.”

Charles Leclerc, concluding his statement, explained why Ferrari decided to reverse course, abandoning the new package in favor of the old one this weekend.
The new solutions brought too much bouncing. So, more problems than advantages. The issue is simple, but finding a solution will not be easy.
“Let’s say that for this particular track, the new package gave the car such bouncing that it became a significant limitation. So for this track, we went back. We’ll see how things go moving forward,” concluded the driver from Monaco at the end of a very disappointing qualifying session for Ferrari.
