The top three at the 2022 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix (Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton) have all been summoned to the FIA race stewards, Formula 1 has officially informed.
The Ferrari driver held off Max Verstappen despite a late-race throttle scare to take his third win in the 2022 Formula One season, his first since round 3 of the championship, as Charles finished ahead of the Red Bull driver and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. However, all three drivers have been called to the stewards’ office for a breach of parc fermé instructions.
The summons letter stated the trio had allegedly breached Article 12.2.1.i) of the International Sporting Code, which reads: “Failure to follow the instructions of the relevant officials for the safe and orderly conduct of the event.”
It is believed the breach may be related to the post-race procedure notes issued beforehand that state: “Driver physios must wait outside the cool down room behind the podium until the podium ceremony has concluded.” It relates to the drivers’ physios interacting with the drivers in parc ferme before they’ve been weighed. It has been going on for a while and the FIA have previously warned the teams it needs to stop.

The summons adds extra drama to what was a thrilling Austrian Grand Prix in which Ferrari looked destined to secure a one-two finish, but lost out due to a power unit failure suffered by Carlos Sainz. It is unlikely that any of the drivers will receive more than a fine.
