Scuderia Ferrari again remains on top of the timesheets as Charles Leclerc, just like Sebastian Vettel yesterday, sets the pace on the second day of pre-season testing and completes the most laps. A most impressive start to F1 2019 for the Maranello team, heading the competition by three-tenths of a second on Tuesday. Charles lapped within one-tenth of a second of Ferrari teammate Sebastian Vettel’s Monday time in the opening session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, recording a lap of 1m18.247s.
The time was good enough to give Charles Leclerc top spot come the end of the day as Ferrari enjoyed another strong day of running, completing over 158 laps.
Following the Monegasque driver was Lando Norris who ended the day in P2 for McLaren. Third was Magnussen, who was supposed to complete the day with the American squad, but sat out the afternoon session after his team uncovered a seat issue. Alexander Albon was fourth in the Toro Rosso. The Thai-British driver set 130 laps for the Honda-powered squad, after spinning out on his first out lap this morning. Antonio Giovinazzi was fifth for Alfa Romeo Alfa Romeo Racing.
Formula 1 testing resumes at 8 am GMT on Wednesday in Barcelona, with another eight hours of running planned.
