F1 | 30 years of Pokémon: Charles Leclerc joins the celebrations
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is joining the worldwide celebrations for 30 years of Pokémon, with his loyal dog Leo also taking part in the fun. Back in February, during the Super Bowl, a special commercial aired to mark the milestone anniversary of Pokémon. The ad featured famous personalities from sports and entertainment, including Charles Leclerc, Lady Gaga, Lamine Yamal, and many others, who shared the qualities of their favorite Pokémon.
Since its debut in 1996 as a video game, the Pokémon universe has expanded tremendously, evolving alongside its characters into animated series, films, manga, and trading cards. Over the past three decades, Pokémon has captivated both young and old fans alike. To celebrate this 30-year milestone, Charles Leclerc posted a humorous and charming photo featuring himself and his dog Leo.
Continuing the celebrations
During the Super Bowl commercial, Leclerc shared why he loves his favorite Pokémon: “It’s extremely fast, can be calm, and we’re both very quick. Its loyalty, its speed: Arcanine.”
Yesterday, the Monegasque Ferrari driver posted another tribute to Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, this time with a very special companion: Leo, who was playfully “transformed” into a Pokémon for the occasion.
Charles Leclerc’s famous dog, a well-known paddock star in F1, was described by the Ferrari driver as a “mini-Arcanine.” Arcanine is a fire-type Pokémon, a cross between a dog and a lion, featuring long cream-and-orange fur.
The Instagram post shared by Charles Leclerc yesterday also included classic Pokémon elements, such as a faithful reproduction of the iconic Poké Ball, adding to the playful tribute for fans of the franchise.
