Ferrari released a belter of a one-off livery for Formula 1’s visit to their home race in Monza this weekend. Yesterday, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz took part in the official presentation of the special Monza anniversary Ferrari F1 livery in Milan and the Monegasque driver also shared his thoughts on the exciting weekend ahead in front of the Tifosi, while also looking back to the memorable win at Monza in 2019:

Sunday, Monza, people. What do you want to say to them?
Charles Leclerc: “I will give everything on Sunday to try to bring home the win just as in 2019. Let’s see how it goes. Thanks for the support and Forza Ferrari.”

Enzo Ferrari used to say that bad luck doesn’t exist. Is it the same for you?
Charles Leclerc: “Yes, I think you can make your own luck. I mean that when you do everything alright, things will go well”

Have you become patient or have you always been like this?
Charles Leclerc: “No, I think I’ve become patient. The first year in Ferrari, and before this one, I was very impatient.”

In that ‘no’ that you screamed in France, what was inside [of your head] then?
Charles Leclerc: “I was sure the radio was turned off! I wanted to keep that ‘no’ for myself, but everybody heard it… It simply showed the passion I put in this sport, which is my life.”

How are you today in comparison to the little kid that used to go on the balcony of his home to watch Ferrari at Monte Carlo?
Charles Leclerc: “I’m very lucky. I’m a Ferrari driver, I’m in F1, my dream since I was a kid watching those races from the balcony in Monaco. And today I’m in those cars that I used to watch when I was a kid. Some things have changed, but I try to be always the same person”

Charles Leclerc about his Monza win (2019): “Incomparable. I think it’s the best race I’ve ever done in F1 in terms of emotions. It’s an intense week, there is not only the race on Sunday, it starts on Wednesday, it’s always so special. There is a lot of pressure, but to be able to win that race on Sunday, it was something incredible. Standing there on the podium, I will remember it forever. There were all the fans, it was exciting. We will give it everything to do it again this Sunday.”

Charles about the special livery for the 2022 Italian Grand Prix: “I really like it [livery]. I hope it brings good luck to me too. It’s really nice, and I really like the rear wing. I really like the new race suits too. I hope there will be more things unveiled in the coming days. But I really like it. It’s something different. And yellow is a historic color for Ferrari and Modena, a color that Enzo Ferrari used to like a lot”
