The 2025 Formula 1 season marked the third year of Frederic Vasseur’s leadership at Ferrari. Under the French manager, the team has achieved six wins in total and secured a second, a third, and a fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship. However, 2025 proved particularly challenging, as Ferrari was never consistently competitive for race victories, and the team has not stood atop the podium since October 27, 2024—over a year ago.
Fred Vasseur faced scrutiny throughout the season, but in the summer, he secured a contract extension, confirming that he will continue to lead Ferrari into 2026. This upcoming season is crucial for the future of the team, as the French manager has already directed all resources toward the new project shaped by the regulation changes that take effect next year.
Leclerc places full trust in Vasseur
Charles Leclerc and Frederic Vasseur share a close relationship, and the Monegasque driver openly expressed his support for the team principal in a recent interview with L’Equipe: “We’ve suffered together because we are united, and our relationship is built on trust that has lasted a long time. I have never doubted his abilities, and I support him just as he has supported me. Maybe it’s not always visible, but being this united despite the criticism is one of the team’s strengths.”
Charles Leclerc emphasized the need for patience as Fred Vasseur’s approach takes hold: “I’m very happy to have him by my side, but it takes time for him to fully transfer his vision to the team. I firmly believe in his approach.”

The 28-year-old also explained how he handles external pressures and media narratives: “What happens outside the team is beyond my control, and I don’t even see it unless it’s reported by the press. I’ve even removed social media from my phone to avoid wasting time and energy.”
Charles Leclerc’s comments underline the strong alignment between driver and team principal, highlighting a shared long-term vision as Ferrari prepares for a pivotal season under new technical regulations.
If Fred Vasseur’s vision finally clicks next year, Ferrari’s long wait for a championship could be over. And Charles Leclerc, more than anyone, is willing to wait for it.
