Austin Qualifying, Charles Leclerc hunts down the other big names
For Charles Leclerc, it will be another race characterized by chasing. At the 5.513-kilometre Circuit of The Americas in Austin, the Monegasque driver will have to climb up from the fourth position achieved in the qualifying session on Saturday: a position that the Ferrari driver considers fitting for the car’s potential, but which in the race could turn into something very important if #16 can take advantage of the promising race pace of the SF-24.
Charles Leclerc’s comments
“We made few changes (between Sprint and qualifying in terms of setup, editor’s note), because I was quite happy with the Sprint,” this was his comment to Sky Sport F1. “In the Sprint Qualifying, unfortunately, we had problems in the first sector, and for now, we don’t have the solution in the car, so it didn’t make sense to go in another direction for that.” – he pointed out.
“We tried to maximize today’s result, and in the end, that’s what we did. We achieved a third and a fourth place, and I don’t think we could have done more,” the Monegasque driver concluded at the end of the qualifying session for the 2024 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in Austin.
In the race, Charles Leclerc will have Carlos Sainz as his first opponent, with whom there have been several sparks during the Sprint: for the two Ferrari drivers, it will be important to avoid new risky duels in order to have the best chances to compete for victory against the McLaren cars of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri as well as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
