Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc has revealed how his father’s love of Ayrton Senna helped provide him with the inspiration to embark on a racing career that took him to Ferrari two years ago. Charles grew up on the Monaco streets that Ayrton Senna famously dominated until his death in 1994:
“My father was a big fan of Ayrton Senna. He spoke quite a lot with me about him, about the way he was driving and everything when I was younger, and I was very inspired already. Then I saw the onboards on youtube and then of course the movie. To be honest, the person, probably the only driver that I’ve been really looking up to, a driver that I have never seen in real life, because he passed away before I was born, it is Ayrton Senna. For me, he inspired me massively in my career. And then I also heard now there is going to be a Netflix series about Ayrton Senna, which I really want to watch. He was the driver that inspired me the most even though I haven’t seen him in real life!” – Charles Leclerc explained.
