Scuderia Ferrari is facing a very challenging 2023 Formula 1 championship. After its unveiling back in February, there were high expectations of being highly competitive and contending for the championship. However, just a few races in, it became clear that the Maranello team would have to readjust its goals for the current Formula 1 campaign. A few days before the start of the second part of the 2023 F1 championship, Charles Leclerc is aiming for a more realistic second place for the Italian side, well aware that even that won’t be easy.
The Maranello team has secured only three podium finishes, all thanks to Charles Leclerc: the Monegasque driver achieved a third place at the Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan and at the 7.004-kilometre Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Stavelot, Belgium, alongside a second place at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Currently, the Scuderia Ferrari team is fourth in the Constructors’ Championship ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, behind Red Bull, Mercedes, and Aston Martin, with a 56-point gap to the three-pointed star in the battle for the second spot in the standings.
As reported by racingnews365, the Monegasque driver recently spoke to the media about his expectations for the second half of the Formula One season. Here are some of his comments:
Charles Leclerc, now aiming for second place
Charles Leclerc stated: “I think a realistic goal, first of all, should be to try and finish second in the Constructors’, which will be a challenge because McLaren is back fighting, and Mercedes is always strong.” – he pointed out.

The Scuderia Ferrari driver then concluded: “Aston Martin has dropped off a bit recently, but I have no doubt they’ll come back. So yes, that’s our goal. We have some updates coming in the second part of the season, which we hope will make a difference and help us achieve these objectives.”
