Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc found a great way to redeem himself after the mistake from the second free practice session for the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix: the fourth place scored during the F1 qualifying session on the very fast track of Jeddah will certainly allow the Monegasque to regain confidence and approach the race with new awareness.
“Finally a good lap has arrived. One of those that I generally manage to do in qualifying” – Charles Leclerc said after qualifying in an interview for ‘Sky sport F1’, who appeared much more relaxed than on Friday evening – “After a few qualifying sessions in which everything didn’t go as it should, I’m really happy to have put it all together and have had a good lap”.

“It was not easy to find confidence in the car today. Until Q3 I tried to progressively push over the limit without taking any particular risks. Then on the last lap I said to myself ‘Come on, let’s give everything and see what happens’. ” But there was no shortage of scary moments: “I was a bit scared in turn 22, right where I crashed in FP2. I had a ‘snap’ right in the middle of the corner, but everything went well and I am happy to have finished in fourth position.”
Obviously, much credit also goes to the Ferrari mechanics, forced to work overtime on the night between Friday and Saturday to get the car back on track. “I want to thank the mechanics. I gave them a lot of work yesterday and I’m sorry for that. Despite everything they always struggle with a smile and I am grateful to them. I am happy to have been able to thank them with this good result”. – he added.
One last note on the expectations for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix: “We must be particularly careful at the start. There will be a bit of a battle for the title ahead and we have to try to get through the first lap safe. After this moment, I think we will have the pace to keep up with our direct competitors. We have nothing to envy of them in terms of race pace” – Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc concluded.
Charles Leclerc will therefore start from fourth position on the Medium tire like all the drivers in the top-10 with the exception of Lando Norris (McLaren) on Soft.
