Last night, Charles Leclerc’s health was the most talked-about topic, with everyone chasing updates. The Monegasque driver hadn’t been feeling well in recent days and had therefore proactively decided to skip media day at the Made in Italy and Emilia Romagna GP. It was a precautionary move, in fact, since on Friday morning the Ferrari driver showed up bright and early at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari paddock in Imola, accompanied by his partner Alexandra, having fully recovered. To clear up any remaining doubts, driver number 16 confirmed to some local media that he was back to full fitness and ready to hit the track for free practice.
Everything normal
Staying true to his word, as reported earlier, the Monegasque took to the track and participated in the first free practice session of the Imola GP, allowing fans to breathe a sigh of relief and avoiding the risk that the Scuderia would have to call up reserve driver Antonio Giovinazzi, who was present at the Santerno circuit. On the contrary, Charles looked in good shape and finished FP1 in twelfth place, behind both his usual rivals and his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who clocked the fourth-fastest time once he hit the track.
Complaints on the radio
During the session, as always, Charles Leclerc worked to find the best balance in the car and provided the engineers with the necessary feedback to fine-tune the setup and maximise the result in what is, effectively, a home Grand Prix for Ferrari. And while giving feedback to his race engineer, Bryan Bozzi, the driver from the Principality let out a blunt comment about the car’s behaviour in corner entry, when the throttle is not being applied: “Guys, the release is horrible…”
