Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc is confident his Maranello teammate Carlos Sainz will be able to come back strong in the 2022 Formula 1 season, adding that it is only a matter of time before Carlos will feel at ease with the F1-75 challenger.

Charles Leclerc admitted that the handling characteristics of the Italian’s sides 2022 Formula 1 car is better suited for his driving style, but feels that his teammate Carlos Sainz would also soon become comfortable with it and will be able to challenge the Red Bull cars of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, as Ferrari continue the championship duel with the Austrian team.

“I like the way the car handles and the balance of the car through corner eight, so it’s a bit more of a pointy car this year,” Charles Leclerc said, aead of the Canadian Grand Prix – “The rear moves around quite a lot more, and this seems to fit my driving style a little bit better. But I’m sure that it’s only a matter of time before Carlos gets at ease with this car.”

Carlos Sainz joined Scuderia Ferrari at the start of the 2021 Formula 1 championship from McLaren and impressed during the first year alongside the Maranello team as he proved able to challenge his highly-rated teammate. The Spaniard even finished ahead of Charles Leclerc in the final standings of the 2021 Formula 1 campaign, outscoring him by 164.5 points to 159 in a Ferrari car that did not have the speed to fight with Red Bull and Mercedes last season.

But as the Scuderia has significantly improved the pace of its car in 2022 (while still having to work on reliability), the Monegasque has clearly established himself as the Maranello team’s main driver in this start of the season, thanks to some outstanding performances in qualifying and two race victories, in Bahrain and Australia.

On the other hand, Carlos Sainz has not been able to fight for wins so far and has generally been overshadowed by Charles Leclerc so far this year. The Spanish driver was also involved in several incidents and as a result has lost important points in the standings.
