Fourth place confirmed
With the poor performance in Lusail, Ferrari has effectively condemned itself to fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship, given the unbridgeable gap from Mercedes and Red Bull. A very disappointing result, as second place had been set as the season goal, and dropping two positions compared to 2024 translates into 20 million less in the revenue distribution among the teams.
A boring race
Charles Leclerc started tenth and finished eighth, 56 seconds behind winner Max Verstappen. In short, an anonymous race: “There weren’t many significant moments apart from the crash in front of me and Isack’s flat tire. But that’s not what I rely on to achieve good results. A terrible weekend. The performance was never up to standard; there wasn’t a single good lap. We were nowhere in qualifying, and that affected the whole weekend.”
For Charles Leclerc, there was even time to watch the championship battle between Lando Norris, Max Verstappen, and Oscar Piastri: “The weekend was very boring for me, but I was able to follow a bit on the big screens what was happening, and I was doing some calculations in my head. I think anything can happen when there are so few points between the drivers. Probably Lando and Max will fight it out, but the tension will be sky-high, and accidents could play a crucial role.” And there is a hint of sadness in the Monegasque’s words: “I would like to be involved in this kind of fight, I want to win. I want to fight at the top, and it’s nice to see these battles, but it would be wonderful if I could be part of them…”
