After a very intense and thrilling start to the 2022 Formula 1 season, Charles Leclerc is enjoying a well-deserved weekend off. The Monegasque driver scored two victories for Scuderia Ferrari in the first three rounds of 2022, defeating Max Verstappen after a close battle at the Bahrain International Circuit and with a dominant weekend in Australia seven days ago. These results allow Charles Leclerc to comfortably lead the Drivers World Championship ahead of the 2022 Emilia Romagna GP, with 34 points ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell and 38 points more than his Maranello teammate Carlos Sainz. Now the F1-75 has become a reference point and the Monegasque driver has lived up to the expectations.
As we wait for the Imola event and for the passionate Italian fans to create an incredible atmosphere during the Emilia Romagna GP weekend – home to the fourth round of the championship, the first in Europe – with thousands of Ferrari fans expected to cheer for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz next weekend, the Monegasque driver is trying to recharge the batteries in his native Monte Carlo. To try to take his mind off the track, at least for a few days, the leader of the F1 World Championship has given up the role of an F1 driver and taken on the one of the simple fan. In fact, Charles Leclerc has been spotted in recent days, together with his girlfriend and his older brother, in the stands of the Monte-Carlo Masters, the annual tennis tournament for male professional players held in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France, a commune that borders on Monaco.
Today, Charles Leclerc was in the stands to watch the match between the Greek Tsitsipas (favourite #3 of the tournament) and the Spaniard Davidovich Fokina. A useful break to recharge the batteries in view of the most important weekend of the season so far. After the triumph at Monza 2019, in fact, Charles Leclerc dreams of giving the Ferrari public another home victory, which at Imola has been missing from the success of Michael Schumacher in 2006.
