Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz has highlighted the fact that he is still not at “100 per cent” with the Maranello team’s F1-75 challenger and is confident his form will “peak” in the second part of the 2022 Formula 1 championship.

This led to a few costly mistakes made by the Spaniard, like a spin at the Melbourne circuit which ended his race in Australia, followed by a crash in the qualifying session for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and another early-race mistake at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, that led to questions being asked regarding Carlos Sainz’s mindset.
Yet during the last few races, the Spanish driver has significantly improved his performances and results, up to the point of taking his first Formula 1 victory, in the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone Circuit.
Asked to evluate his first part of the 2022 Formula One championship, Carlos Sainz admitted to being pleased with his recent progress, but is confident the second part of the season will bring even more in terms of performance.
“I think we’ve been doing a better job these last few weekends,” Carlos Sainz said in a recent interview for Sky Sports F1 during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend, which for Carlos ended with a disappointed DNF due a power unit failure.

“I think since Monaco… Monaco was already a bit of a turning point, fighting there for pole position. Also in Baku, we fought pole. In Canada, we fought for the win. I’ve been picking up a bit of momentum. I wouldn’t say I’m 100 per cent there yet. I think there’s things still to improve, like we saw in the race in Silverstone. Definitely I feel a lot more in touch and like it could come anytime again soon.” – the Ferrari driver concluded.
