There is still more than a week to go, but for Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz the wait is starting to get exhausting. From 19 to 22 May, Carlos will take part in his home Grand Prix in Barcelona, finally able to drive a competitive car, the F1-75, which should give him the possibility of fighting at least for a podium finish at the Circuit de Catalunya.
For the Spaniard, the 2022 Formula 1 season did not start in the best way possible, but Carlos, especially after the podium scored at the Miami International Autodrome, looks to the next challenge with new determination: “It will be an intense week, but also a lot of fun. I will enjoy the Spanish Grand Prix in a way that I have never understood before. This year I will have my first real opportunity to fight for the podium and win the race. It will be a unique and very fun grand prix.” – the Ferrari driver said.
Carlos Sainz does not hide, he aims for victory
“Winning in front of the Spanish fans? It would be special! It would be my first Formula 1 victory and above all, it would be at home. I have always been working to achieve this goal, trying to reach it as soon as possible. The fans are waiting for nothing else, but I think the first to want this happen it’s me” – Carlos added, in a recent interview for Spanish daily sports newspaper ‘AS’.
“I only ask the fans to offer me as much support as possible. I will notice every little thing they do from the car. On the home circuit I have always done my best races and I have always scored points when I was driving a car that was able to do so” – he explained, before reiterating what his goal of the weekend will be: ” This year I will have a car capable of fighting for the podium. But I’ll try to win!.” – the Ferrari driver concluded.

A positive weekend in the Spanish Grand Prix would be very important for Carlos Sainz, in order to reduce the gap to his Maranello teammate Charles Leclerc in the Formula 1 Driver Standings and therefore postpone any talks regarding a possible second driver status and forget the last unfortunate weekends, with unfortunate crashes in Melbourne, Imola (through no fault of his own) and on Friday in Miami.
