The partnership between Scuderia Ferrari and Estrella Galicia 0.0 began in 2021 when Carlos Sainz made the switch from McLaren to the Maranello team. The Spanish brewery had followed the Formula 1 driver during his team transition. However, it now seems that the relationship between the sponsor and the Italian side is set to conclude at the end of this Formula 1 season. According to some rumors from Spain, Estrella Galicia 0.0 is reportedly negotiating with Aston Martin, where Spanish driver Fernando Alonso will be at the helm, to reach an agreement for the upcoming season.
Although there was an Estrella Galicia event last Monday, which Carlos Sainz also attended, it appears that, starting from next season, the brewery’s logo will no longer be present on the Spanish driver’s car. This would be a first-time occurrence, as the Spanish company has sponsored Carlos Sainz throughout his entire career, from his debut with Toro Rosso to his arrival at Ferrari.
The separation between Estrella Galicia and the Scuderia Ferrari is not yet official, but it seems that negotiations with Aston Martin are progressing. The brewery would thus reunite with Fernando Alonso, whom they had already sponsored in 2019 when he participated in the Indianapolis 500.
If this agreement is confirmed, there is one sponsor that could potentially go in the opposite direction. Currently, Aston Martin has a partnership with Peroni, which also produces alcohol-free beer, Nastro Azzurro 0.0%. Naturally, this would create a conflict of interest. For this reason, the Italian brewery might leave Aston Martin but remain in F1 and become a sponsor of Ferrari.
We’ll have to wait and see if there will be official announcements from the parties involved.
