Last weekend, Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz was unable to participate in the Qatar Grand Prix and understandably expressed his disappointment in interviews associated with the event. In the hours that followed, he also vented his frustration on social media, pointing out how cruel motorsport can be. After securing a podium at Monza and a victory in Singapore, his positive streak came to an end due to a reliability issue with his SF-23.
As reported by a spokesperson for Scuderia Ferrari, a technical problem was discovered less than an hour before the start of the race at the Losail International Circuit. This is the statement from the Maranello team: “Due to a problem with the fuel system of his car, Carlos will not take part in the Qatar Grand Prix.”
Because of this forced stop, the Spanish driver had to watch the race from the pits, and his Maranello teammate, who finished in fifth place at the Lusail International Circuit, gained an additional ten points in the overall Drivers’ standings. As reported by gpfans, Carlos Sainz then posted on his social media to vent his anger at what happened in Qatar. Below are his words.
Carlos Sainz’s Post on Social media
Through his social media, Carlos Sainz wrote: “We all know that motorsport can be cruel at times, and today I got to taste its worst side. A missed opportunity, but we learn and move on. It’s time to focus on the remaining races.” Fortunately for the Spaniard, Formula 1 will return to the track in Texas in just over a week, where he will immediately have the chance to make amends.
