In a recent interview for soymotor.com, Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver previewed the next round of the 2022 Formula 1 season, the Japanese Grand Prix and looked back at the Maranello team’s performance in the last few races:
Carlos Sainz about Red Bull:
“Red Bull is very strong in the race and qualifies well, as well as having a very complete package at all the circuits. Ours is very good too. This is an old school track, with a lot going on from the driver’s side and with a special atmosphere.
The Japanese GP is a special track with a great atmosphere, and you can see it in the faces of the drivers:
“You can see that us drivers, that our faces light up when we are here. It is very good to be back, a pity that it is so far from Europe.”
Carlos Sainz about possible rain in the Japanese Grand Prix weekend:
“If it rains, I’m sure I’ll take the opportunity to ride in the rain, but it will most likely rain a lot, I’ll have a good opportunity to test things. We’ll have to see if the intensity allows us to drive tomorrow, I hope so. You have to assess the risks. They are tires made for heavy rain, then we realize that we don’t see, driving blind in Formula 1 isn’t fun either. I always want to ride, even when I can’t see, but the truth is that it’s dangerous.”

Carlos Sainz about Scuderia Ferrari’s progress over the past few F1 races:
“In Belgium and Zandvoort we were far away, but in Monza and Singapore we got closer to Red Bull, although we couldn’t be faster than them in the race. We want to have a weekend where we do well both in qualifying and again before the end of the season. A perfect week will help us for 2023, it would give us a lot of confidence and motivation. It’s been a long time since the last victory.”
