Carlos Sainz reacts to Ferrari updates for Spain: “Moving in the right direction”. Carlos reacts to Ferrari updates for Spain.

Carlos Sainz, focus on Barcelona “fortress” to turn the page
In the warmth of the home crowd, Carlos Sainz hopes to find comfort and energy to put behind the Monte-Carlo weekend and, overall, a season start with Scuderia Ferrari that has fallen well below expectations. At Montmeló, the Spanish driver has always scored points, showing his affinity for the circuit beyond the constant support he receives from the stands given that he races in front of his fans. A solid performance can help him and Ferrari regain confidence.

It’s hard to say what to expect from the Spanish Grand Prix, where the Scuderia brings the updates that were meant to be introduced at Imola but were understandably delayed until the first “proper” circuit. Carlos Sainz expects the Barcelona updates to allow Ferrari to take a step forward.

Carlos Sainz’s comments
“We bring an update here, it’s a new direction that brings us to a point that is right for the development of this car to make it more consistent and drivable during the race, which we know is our weak point. It hasn’t been an easy start to the season for us, we have struggled, but this is the first step towards a certain direction that will help us improve the car’s efficiency. It won’t revolutionize things, it’s our first step towards improvement.” – the Ferrari man pointed out during his Thursday interview with the media at the Circuit de Catalunya.

A feeling of home
“I would say it’s a very special Grand Prix for me, I’m happy to be back home. It’s a circuit that has treated me very well in the past. I’m in my ninth year here, and I have many beautiful memories from when I was a kid, when I was 10 years old and met Fernando Alonso for the first time. I had also met Michael Schumacher and seen the Ferrari for the first time. And now, 20 years later, I’m here as a driver for the Prancing Horse with the possibility of stepping on the podium or winning. It’s something very special that makes me feel good.” – Carlos Sainz added.

“It’s impossible to quantify how much the support of the fans can improve lap times, but it certainly puts me in a good mood. I know that running at home with a positive spirit gives me more energy. I try to give a smile to the fans because you know they are here for you and they try to push you, but it’s impossible to know how much it’s worth. The fact remains that this is the circuit, along with Monaco and Austin, where I have scored the most points, and it gives me a good feeling.” – the Spaniard concluded.
