In a recent interview for Spanish national daily sport newspaper Marca, Scuderia Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz was asked about his future with the Italian side amid specualtions regarding a new deal and also about his prospects for the 2022 Formula One season, when Ferrari hope to once again be able to challenge Mercedes and Red Bull for race wins:
Carlos Sainz about a possible contract extension with the Maranello team:
“My future at Ferrari is something we have to sit down and talk about calmly, putting all the options on the table and see which one is the most attractive for everyone, but I still don’t know what I will prefer. I am very happy at Ferrari. It has been a very good start to the relationship with Ferrari and I think we are both very happy. Both sides should talk about our future this winter.”
Carlos Sainz about his expectations for Ferrari’s new 2022 Formula 1 car:
“I’m asking the 2022 car to be easy to drive, to go like a rocket and for us to be at the top. The rest I put it on myself, I adapt well to any car and I work it out in the simulator. I have tried the new car [simulator], it is very different in the way you drive it. It will be difficult to drive, very different, for example not so comfortable in the balance in the corner. And it will be fast, but difficult. Next year I would like to fight with Ferrari to be at the top and I would love to have that feeling of being in the battle for my first win and also for a championship. Whether it’s going to happen or not, nobody knows, but we would like to fight for wins.”
