Here is the second part of Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz’s interview with Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera (you can read the first part of the interview here):
What do you admire and dislike about Max Verstappen?
Carlos Sainz: “I admire his ability to be fast in every situation, the courage he shows in trying his own way, a critical overtake. I don’t dislike anything. It’s best to say so, otherwise you’ll have a catchphrase.”
In Lewis Hamilton’s shoes in Abu Dhabi, how would you have felt?
Carlos Sainz: “Very bad. And I was surprised at how he avoided making a mess at the end of the race. Losing the title on the last lap like that is really hard to accept. I respect him more than ever for the way he managed to behave. We exchanged a few words on the podium and he was really struggling.”

A confusing management of the races, shadows and suspicions on the respect of the technical rules. Is the FIA the weak side of this F1?
Carlos Sainz: “We must not repeat the same mistake. Every football match generates controversy. We need to prevent Formula 1 from approaching that kind of tension. But I don’t think the situation is disastrous, I’m convinced that it is improving.”
Your father, almost sixty years old, runs the Dakar as a protagonist. Is he still the family champion?
Carlos Sainz: “Yup. He is the boss, my guide. He helps me with his wisdom. He is a true athlete. And I am convinced that next year he will be able to win that raid again”.
If you were to bet an euro on the 2022 Formula One world champion, who would you bet on, excluding himself?
Carlos Sainz: “Excluding me? I do not know. Let’s say Charles for Ferrari’s sake, but I would like to say Sainz.”
