Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz is confident that the Maranello team “will be stronger” next season, regardless of the evolution of the Italian team’s car, the Spaniard pointed out ahead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix in Brazil, the penultimate round of the current F1 campaign:
“The biggest challenge has to come from within the team to be better on Sundays next year. We are using these last few races to improve” – Carlos Sainz said at an Estrella Galicia 0.0 event, one of the team’s sponsors, in São Paulo.
“We will be more prepared” , he completed, alongside his Maranello teammate, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc.
Asked about the balance of the current campaign, which is about to end, he said that it was “positive in many ways, but also negative in many ways.” “It’s been a year of mixed feelings,” Carlos added.
The Spaniard explained that whenever they chained a couple of races with good results, another bad one arrived, but that, despite the lack of consistency, they have taken some podiums and, he in particular, achieved a victory, the first of his career, at the Silverstone circuit in England.

In this sense, he pointed out that they are trying to improve in these last rounds of the 2022 Formula 1 season with the intention of reaching a new level in terms of “execution of the races, especially on Sundays”. “We are trying to maximize” the team’s potential and “end the year in the strongest possible way” , he added.
On the other hand, Carlos stated that “he is always happy” to return to Sao Paulo, one of his favorite Grand Prix due to the track and the “passion” with which Formula One is lived and which he attributed to the “Ayrton Senna legacy”. .
He also recalled that it was at Interlagos where he achieved the first podium of his F1 career back in 2019, a feat that came at the end of the Grand Prix, after a penalty received by Lewis Hamilton.
The Sao Paulo Grand Prix takes place this weekend at the Interlagos circuit with little to decide, as the Dutchman Max Verstappen has already won his second world title and his team, Red Bull, has also won the constructors’ championship.
