Carlos Sainz, fourth year in Red
Joining Ferrari in 2021 with a two-year contract, Carlos Sainz secured a contract renewal of the same duration, which will end in late 2024. Team principal Frederic Vasseur has not hidden his intention to continue working with the Spaniard, and he is currently discussing a further extension of the agreement with his driver.
Paddock radio talks about a possible new two-year deal for the 29-year-old Spanish driver, consistently performing since his arrival in Maranello, where he has achieved 2 victories, 5 pole positions, and a total of 16 podiums. Carlos Sainz expects a step forward next year and hasn’t hidden it in an exclusive interview with Dazn Spain: “I ask for a car to win in 2024. Whether we win or not, only God knows. I ask to start every weekend thinking we can win.” – the Ferrari man admitted.
Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc
Carlos Sainz also emphasized his level compared to that of his Maranello teammate: “In every race, Charles and I are separated by half a tenth, we are always close. He has great skill in the single lap and also in the race, making comebacks and gaining positions at the start. We are an excellent pair.” – the Spaniard believes.
From Carlos Sainz’s recent comments, the desire to continue together with Charles Leclerc at Scuderia Ferrari is evident: “We are two drivers who get along very well, and I believe that for the team, having two drivers pushing each other is ideal. There’s healthy competition between us, but the priority is always the team. Personally, I try to push when I need to and control myself when it’s necessary to do so,” Carlos Sainz concluded in his recent interview for Dazn Spain.
