Formula 1 has entered the last third of the 2022 Formula 1 championship. In these last six races, Scuderia Ferrari’s chances of winning, given the incredible race pace shown by Red Bull and especially by Max Verstappen, have been close to zero.
However, within the Italian team there is still confidence that Ferrari will be able to have a good end of the 2022 Formula 1 season and return to fight for victories, while the main focus of the Maranello team has already shifted to the next F1 campaign. As confirmed by Carlos Sainz, Ferrari just need to get a little extra performance out of the F1-75 car to challenge the RB18 in terms of race pace:
“I’m looking forward to the last few races,” – Carlos Sainz admitted, in a recent interview during an event organized by one of his sponsors, ‘Estrella Galicia 00’ – “I like those circuits. I have always achieved good results on these tracks in the past.” – the Ferrari driver added.
“We have been fighting for poles and wins in recent races and even though Red Bull is now performing at an incredible level, I believe we can still do it,” he continued according to ‘Soymotor.com’. “They are making things difficult for us, but if we can make a further step with the car, improving the race pace by a couple of tenths, then we will be back in the fight. This is the goal for the final part of the season” – the Spanish driver explained.
Analysis of the 2022 Formula One season
Analyzing his second year with Scuderia Ferrari, Carlos Sainz said he was particularly proud of having managed to get his first career win at Silverstone. Speaking of the improvements made during the current season, he added: “I think I have made good progress. The first win made me very proud, but the championship was a bit complicated, mainly due to the bad luck in the first part of the season. I was a bit behind because of the several races in which I did not score any points in that phase of the championship. But then I got better. I scored podiums and a win. So I think I can’t really complain” – Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz concluded.
