Kimi Antonelli set the fastest time in the only free practice session of the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix, leading a Mercedes one-two in a chaotic and extended FP1 session in Montreal. The Italian driver finished ahead of teammate George Russell, while Ferrari showed encouraging pace with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc completing the top four.
The session was extended by 15 minutes and featured plenty of drama, with multiple red flags disrupting running. Alex Albon crashed into the barriers, while Esteban Ocon also brought out a late interruption after a lighter contact with the wall. Technical problems also affected Liam Lawson, while Franco Colapinto did not manage to take to the track at all.
