Silverstone delivered one of the most dramatic Formula 1 races of the season, and the conversation behind the podium was almost as revealing as the action on track. Before stepping onto the podium for the trophy ceremony, George Russell and Charles Leclerc exchanged their thoughts on an unpredictable British Grand Prix, with both drivers admitting they had not expected the final outcome.
George Russell surprised the Ferrari driver by joking about his own race pace, confessing: “Throughout the entire race I felt incredibly slow. I certainly didn’t think I’d end up finishing this high.”
Charles Leclerc also suggested that Ferrari’s result had exceeded expectations, making it clear that he had not anticipated such a positive outcome before the race unfolded.
The Mercedes driver also shared his thoughts on the incident involving Max Verstappen, saying: “It was a really unusual situation. I started wondering whether the rear wing hadn’t closed properly.”
