The ongoing crisis of Lewis Hamilton
Seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton was undoubtedly expecting a very different kind of debut season with Scuderia Ferrari. Both the expectations of the British driver himself and those of the passionate Ferrari supporters have been bitterly disappointed by a car that, at present, is clearly not competitive enough to challenge McLaren consistently. Furthermore, Hamilton has not been able to fully extract the maximum potential from the SF-25, in contrast to his team-mate Charles Leclerc, who has been performing at a high level for several months.
The current performance level of the multiple-time world champion is sparking a great deal of discussion throughout the Formula 1 paddock. His recent statements during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend have also raised eyebrows, as they seemed to carry a tone of resignation — almost as if Lewis Hamilton was already shifting his focus to the 2026 Formula 1 season. This attitude is something that Bernie Ecclestone, former F1 supremo, considers completely unacceptable. The 94-year-old former boss of the sport has therefore tried to jolt a now unrecognisable Sir Lewis Hamilton back into action.
Bernie Ecclestone’s words on Lewis Hamilton’s form
“I believe that Lewis still has incredible talent. But I also think he needs to get a move on,” said Bernie Ecclestone in a direct comment given to the British outlet Sky Sports UK.
Speaking again to his fellow countrymen, Ecclestone added with a touch of sarcasm that an eighth Formula 1 world title for Lewis Hamilton is more likely than the rumoured possibility of him joining forces with Christian Horner to purchase shares in the Alpine F1 Team. Just a few weeks ago, Bernie Ecclestone also stirred controversy by minimising the importance of Hamilton’s seven world titles, suggesting that the British driver had won them “without any real competitors.”
