An extraordinary meeting about the disqualifications of the two Ferrari SF-25s in the Chinese F1 GP: the behind-the-scenes story involving Lewis Hamilton. The British driver, who hasn’t lost his smile or confidence in his new team, was the protagonist of a real tour de force. After Shanghai, and before his commitments in Japan, he reportedly returned to Maranello to take stock of the progress and critical issues of the car.
Long weeks for Ferrari: after the double disqualification in China, many rumors have circulated about Maranello’s troubles. What seems clear is that the team has attempted a full reset. Something went dramatically wrong in Shanghai, and now the spotlight is inevitably on the Prancing Horse: a strong comeback is expected in Suzuka.
Work at the factory is moving quickly. Already between Bahrain and Jeddah, important updates to the floor are scheduled, but the focus is already on rear-end issues. The team has learned from the mistakes made during the last race weekend, where Lewis Hamilton still managed to secure an excellent Sprint Race win. And it seems the Briton has been working closely with the team.
The meeting with Lewis Hamilton: behind-the-scenes from Maranello
The meeting between the seven-time Formula 1 world champion and the engineers was revealed by Ted Kravitz of Sky Sports F1: “Ferrari called a meeting. They recalled Hamilton from his activities in China and Japan, to return to Maranello for just one day, on Tuesday, to understand how things were going. He said they constructively addressed what went wrong in those two disqualifications.”
“Lewis then returned to Japan to adapt to the time zone. Hamilton wants maximum downforce, and you get that by lowering the car. I spoke with Ferrari: they admitted they made a mistake. Lewis arrived in Japan laughing off every suggestion that his confidence in Ferrari had been shaken by the disqualification in China.” – the Sky Sports F1 reported pointed out.
